    Td42 idle at warm temp

    Hey, Gents!

My TD42 IDLES REALLY HIGH AT OPERATING TEMP (1000+ rpm)

When switched off for a while, goes back to normal idle then proceeds to high when warm.

When revved at warm temp, idle would not come down. Stays at certain RPM where you pulled your foot off the gas.

Is it safe to say that i need an IP rebuild?

Check if the accelerator cable is not holding the IP lever at an accelerated position. Try returning the accelerator lever at the IP by hand.

Yep, remove the cable to the pump and see what happens.

The high idle can happen when someone plays with the fuel screw. You can't back off the throttle lever enough to compensate for the higher idle.

Has the pump ever been serviced before?
