38psi is always a good number for bitumen.

Another consideration is load. My GQ is heavy and for road travel, Melb to the Madigan I was running at 60 psi on the HD Terrains as their load rating is right up to 85psi for max. Trouble running so hard is the tire heat up on the road and I quickly found I was deflating them in the heat. So ambient temps and types of driving are important.

When we got into the sand and soft corrugations I dropped to circa 35psi when the other vehicles were at 20psi. If I dropped to 20 I would be running on the rims! I had adequate floatation at those pressures.

I run the Ol' Trol at 28-30 psi. It is basically stock weight except the winch. I pump the tyres up to 35-38 when towing the caravan. If I don't run the lower pressure the vehicle wants to shake itself to bits on the unvehicle-worthy pot holed pieces of crap we call highways, here in S.W.Vic.
My advice is: not to follow my advice.
