Glad to be here seems like a great community

I am Rich from Key West, FL. I just bought a 1996 Patrol GQ GranRoad td42 130k km

I was a hot rod guy in my youth, first car was a 1969 Mustang Mach I, 2nd 1968 SS396 Chevelle, 3rd 1970 Hemi Cuda.

I got into 4 wheeling when I lived in Georgia and was a sales manager for a Toyota dealership. I would take a 4x4 truck for the weekend and go deep into the 4wd trails. Had to leave 2 hours early on Monday morning to go to the car wash before heading into work

I am a USCG Certified Captain and PADI Divemaster and so is my wife. We are moving to Fiji this year, which is the reason for the Patrol purchase. We had a Jeep (Mitsubishi Turbo Diesel J54) which my wife mostly drove but sold that to buy the Patrol. When we get to Fiji the Patrol will be our only vehicle, plus 2 BMW GS's, boat and jet skis... We will be spending a lot of time in Australia once we get to Fiji.

I do all my own work on all of our vehicles, but props to my wife who helps a lot. She can drive them and help me fix them better than any guy I know.

So just going through her head to toe right now, will need lots of advice I bet. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forum. That is one Pristine Patrol. I suggest using rust prevention if it it is anywhere near the coast. I use fish oil around the roof gutters and and windscreen. Then wipe off the excess and let it dry for a few days so it hardens. I also wash and spray the chassis inside and out with with a bitumen based product.
My advice is: not to follow my advice.
