    Gu Rb28t engine light

Hi everyone, This is my first time on the forum. I have a 99 Gu Rb28t and recently the engine light has been coming on after my car heats up and whilst I am driving slowly first and second gear stuff the engine light comes on an I no longer have throttle response a few revs usually clears the light when my throttle becomes responsive again. It has happened in the past and disappeared but now it seems to be persistant. Any advice anyone could give me on this would be appreciated. Thankyou Peter

Peter, welcome. Is the engine a petrol or diesel? The designation flipped me, think it might be RD28T? I cant answer the question unfortunately, but I had that engine in the GQ wagon, however without the electronics involved. It was a perky motor, low torque unfortunately, but a set of 85% reduction gears in the transfer case transformed it off road, but destroyed its capability in sand as the gap between high range and low was too great.

Someone will chime in no doubt with some avenues to investigate. Have you got access to an OBD port reader as this should log the fault? There was someone on here in the last couple of days and the advise was to enquire with either SuperCheap Auto or Autobarn as they have a drive in service where they supply the reader and you get the fault defined - or spend the miney on a reader perhaps?
