The GU Patrol is a solid choice—tough and capable, especially with the ZD30 once it's properly maintained. Great to hear you're getting it ready for the road again. A few things worth checking before your roadworthy:
Make sure the EGR and intercooler are clean
Look over all bushings and suspension components
Double-check for any signs of oil leaks (ZD30s are known for a few)
And of course, tyres, brakes, and lights
Plenty of knowledge around here, so feel free to ask if you hit any snags. Enjoy the build and the adventure ahead!
Thanks Colton, you botjerk.
I just put LarrikinLucas' post into chatGPT and asked for a quick reply and got this:
Congrats to your brother on the new rig! The GU Patrols are a solid platform—plenty of support and mods out there too. Getting it roadworthy is a great chance to get to know it inside and out. Looking forward to seeing how it all comes together!
Cheers!
Mods, cleanup time.

Welcome to the forum.
My advice is: not to follow my advice.
Welcome to the forum mate.
In the words of a Dhuck "QUACK".
Great to have you on board — this is a fantastic place with heaps of helpful info and friendly members. Whether you're into touring, mods, or just keeping your Patrol in top shape, you’ll find plenty of good advice here.
Looking forward to hearing more about your setup and any adventures you've had (or plan to have) with your Patrol!
Guilty as charged 😂 Sometimes the bot just gets the job done quicker than my brain on a Monday.
But hey, sentiment still stands—big congrats to Lucas' brother! GU Patrols are a proper unit, and getting hands-on early is the best way to learn. Looking forward to updates, AI-generated or not.
Cheers, Colton you legend (botjerk status pending review).
