    Upholstery completed

Upholstery job is completed for a while already, just forgot to post pictures of the job being done, so here are some.

Two sets of seats were used to make one, using the best parts of each. New foam patches were applied to the old tired foam to make it more firm and more volume. The upholsterer (and me) got carried away with the car, made some cool drawings of what he had in mind for the stitches of the seats and I liked it. When the first covers started to be ready I confess I was kind of in doubt about the looks, but at the end, I have fully embraced it.

    Seatbelts

Rear seatbelts were completely replaced and front ones had the belt and all the latches replaced, keeping only the retraction mechanism.
I took to a seatbelt shop a sample of the material that was going to be used in the interior, to look for a belt color that would look nice. They had this gray, very close to the original color, and this blue, too light compared with the leather, carpet, etc. I didn't like any of the options and went on a search. Took a sample of the light blue with me to compare with anything I find.

Found this one on an airplane parts shop, according to the guy it was used on a Cessna plane. Color was an absolute perfect match, but this 20cm piece was all they had left. I took the part number, color code, etc. to search on the web but it was very hard to get online. I found a USA supplier, but wouldn't sell cuts, only X many full rolls. Not viable unfortunately.

After a long search I found an online supplier with a Navy Blue option that was a close enough color, and would sell me a single roll for a reasonable price, so I took it. The roll was enough to make all 5 belts for the 1st two rows and have something left that I can use to make a seatbelt for the 3rd row seat later. When I had the belts made, the 3rd row seat was not ready from the upholster. But the guy said the material left should be enough.

This is the best picture that I have to compare the belt color with everything else. The belt color is very close but it shines a lot, it usually seems a lighter color on pictures. You can see the new latches here.

    Rearview mirror cover paint

The paint scheme I went for calls for bumper, mirror covers and front grill to be all the same dark gray color, but its hard having to part ways with the chrome. Fortunately, the donor car had both covers, so I decided to paint the donor ones and keep my chrome ones in case I regret.

One of the plastic tabs of the right side cover (Aussy driver) was broken and when going through my screws bucket, looking for one similar to the others, I found this used, already pressed, kind of nutsert, curiously with threads both in and out of it. I have no idea where this came from but it happened to have the exact same inside tread as the plastic tabs on the cover.

So I glued it in place :-D

I am very satisfied with the end result.

Looking good, glad when a plan comes together. Are the seats leather or vinyl? Interested to see if they sweat in the heat or are you planning to cover that fancy stitching with covers?

Genuine leather. We had to skin one of those Avatar movie dudes, but fortunately they are big chaps, only one was enough.

No plan for covers nor window tinting. I believe this interior has to be left for appreciation. That said, I am a person that sits and knees on the floor all the time, to fix things, play with the dogs, etc. so usually my pants are dirty, so I left a bathroom towel on the driver's seat bottom cushion. The GU cream color driver seat is already very dirty and needing a wash.
