1994 factory manual turbo 24v safari

    Hi all,

I am infantile to the forum thing.

I have in my hot little hands a factory turbo manual 1994 safari.
I have some questions I can't seem to work out-

1- I have deleted the EGR system(vacuum operated so no code clearing required as old-school manual system) I'd like to know if it is a reasonable or accurate place to install an EGT sensor in the EGR port blank plate , factory manifold separates cyl 1-3 from 4-6 4-6 feeding EGR pipe .
2- boost ....hot topic I know....being factory manual I'd like to assume the internals are strong...comparable to at least what's called the silvertop. Some have said it's the same at the td42 ti in the gu? - the waste gate cracks at 20psi but it has the stupid over boost protection valve that pops at around 8psi. Now given it's a compensated pump am I safe enough to just blank the protection valve off? And let it run with everything else factory.

3- water temp sensors (I know the sensors in the radiator are AC cutout and fan cut in) but there's 3 sensors in the thermostat housing already......surely one can be buggered off for a more responsive temp monitoring spinny thing ..?

4- I plan to build it up for wheeling/over landing but I will be doing all my mods with reliability over performance in mind so I would like to keep updating this thread with photos and infos and tidbits for others with 24v systems as I go

    Any help much appreciated!

#1 It will be accurate for 3 cylinders. Put it in the dump pipe like 99% of people do.
#2 You can eliminate the inlet manifold boost valve if you know your wastegate system is functioning correctly but 20 psi sounds high if you still have the original HT18 turbo.
#3 From memory, the front sensor (dark red/brownish) was to read temps for the EGR ECU so you can use that hole if you've removed the EGR.
