One last lake to cross. The Simpson Desert is awash after recent rain. Driving conditions were very difficult with long sections of muddy ruts covered in water. While none of our party got bogged, two 200 Series LandCruiser’s alternators died, and then completely ran out of power and stopped at Big Red. One was towed into Birdsville while the other needed assistance from Birdsville Hotel recovery vehicle. And we picked up a stranded motorcyclist. It was full on.Attachment 88074

Imagine what it’s going to be like for the Big Red Bash.

Yeah not ideal for the BRB unless she dries out. . Hopefully everythings open for our timing, was not going to bother taking spare alternator but will leave the spare one under the seat usually for Vic / Tassie mud madness. . .

30 days to go!!!!!
We're well into prepping meals too. Will be cooking over the next few weeks a few meals to freeze..
A few meals attached..
Fridge surround just about done, going all out and putting in a shelf for a window box. This will house extinguisher, recovery gear, puncher kit and tools, etc.
Free up a draw, and roof rack space..

Was checking the underground apartment email.
Make sure you check in before you leave so they can email us the room packs etc just incase there is no service..

As for cryovac meals yea we generally don't add pasta, however absolutely cook in the sauce on the night. Just add more water for the re heat.

And yea 100% with stropp, any veg (unless it's hard like fresh potato or carrots) add uncooked or it'll turn to mush..

If doing soups or liquids semi feeze first till it crystallises then put into bag and cyro.
Or find a container that's close to bag size and freeze then cryo..

Yikes shes getting close, have cryoed a few cooked meals pastas / curries etc, the rest will just be some tasty meats, snagz, chicken etc then meals will be done. . Freezer suround/ base pretty much done to sit on middle back seat, new swag will be ready by the end of the week thank goodness so will play with that this weekend. All barwork back from the powdercoaters looking fresh, car booked in for last service in couple of weeks. .





Little fella also got his first down sleeping bag looks very cosy



Can't bloody wait still a bit to go but getting there lol. . .

FWIW: Cryo sealing at home is not the best all/end all
I believe most trucks are running a small fridge & seperate new age freezer?
4 weeks to go, I promise you’ll all that such a short 2.5 week beautiful trip you’ll suffice moving Aldi already Crying selected deep freeze storage hard as a rock in time

Butchers kindly used to put pads atop of pointy bones, like T bones prior to sucking oxygen out of baggies before desert type trips without 12v fridges
