Anyone running FEDERAL xplora RT?

Hello, I know it's a can of worms but has anyone got any feedback on Federal xplora RT tyres? I'm not really concerned about life span as I'll be lucky to do more than 2000km a year. Wondering how they'll grip in the wetter stuff down here. Looking at 285/75 R16. It's a toss up between cheaper new tyres or a more expensive brand, but second hand.

Hey mate, My Federal experience a many of moons ago was an awesome tyre and did its job but longevity was terrible.

It may then suit you.

It’s been a while since I’ve heard that name though.

Keen to hear others too.

I´d always go cheaper tire and never second hand brand tire. I did this once some 20 years ago and regretted it as soon as I realized I had just paid money for someone's junk. It's not like getting used wheels or a used bar or winch...

Unless it is from you buddy that drove 1000kms with the set and decided to go 35's, so you would be basically getting spanking new tires for half the price, I would trust no one on this.

And with regards to tire wearing faster on the cheaper ones, I myself drive as little as you mention and found that this wear corresponds to the tire compound being softer. To me, another plus, as it makes them more comfortable and silent. At the end, I will be replacing them not for wear anyway, but rather for age, and the same would happen with a double the price brand name tire (in my case).

(Before getting flamed, it is worth mentioning that cheaper tire doesn't mean POS tire. I read reviews, compare homologation tests, etc., before picking one.)

After continued looking, it seems the second hand market is desolate wasteland here and I think new is the best way to go. Now starting to talk myself towards the federal couragias now....

Just to add in another important factor to please always consider Legends
Genuine weight ratings of any expensive and or cheaper tyre variants.
Some of our touring/heavy Outback Trols 4 corners may need more (above & beyond) any specific preferred tred/brand/longevity patterns or offroad capability ratings

For the first year and a half, these were excellent tires for wet or snowy roads, but then that went away. It seems to me that even if you don't drive much, this is not a very good option, and it's better to look for something else. Also, I do not recommend buying used tires; I've read here about the situations that can occur when you use them, they can let you down at the most unexpected moment. It's better to buy new ones and be confident in their quality rather than buying a pig in a poke.

I’d always go new tyres. Toyo have always been my go to and have never let me down. From cape York to the Kimberly they were amazing.
