Originally us Hillian’s were BFG KM1 & 2 Muddy weekend fanboys in the day and KO1 & 2 AT’s weekday working Patrols with proven longevity/performance success.
Pricing/availability wise most Hillian’s are moving to Maxxi’s now, AB’s had the AT Razr 811’s on his work Navara for some time so I copied too on mine and are very impressed so far with their slippery highway grip even though they are a paddock grassy top performing home tyre.
I would personally class the AT811 as a 65/35 AT, perfect for my personal needs

After I wrote that line about the 4 chinese tyres for $1K I remembered, I class tyres as one of my most important items so therefore I allow myself to spend more money on them, I only carry 1 spare.

I have the 811s on #The62 and have found them great in all but slippery Mud. Awesome on the beach and quiet on the road. For what they are they have been great. I'm considering if i go to a Muddy next as my willingness to wreck my shiny shit increases. Lol the 811s are great.

had a look at some maxxis tyres, geez louise, too pricey for me.
you have to wonder what you pay for sometimes,

The difference between price and value...if you have to buy 3 sets of $1k tyres, When a $2500 set would have gone the same distance (and you don't spend the time/money at the tyre shop swapping three sets out...) worth it in my mind.

Well, except for something like the excellent sidewall reinforcement that a BFG has and none of the other tires, brand names or not, do not, I find it hard to believe that one tire would drive the likes of 3 times the distance of another.

But lets say 2x is an obtainable ratio between two brands. IMHO I'd rather have a fresh tire at half the period and enjoy that nice new tire feeling once more. Also, for a tire to outlast another by that much, there has to be a very significant difference in the softness of the ruber, and I'd stay with the softer one day and night. More grip to tarmac and more comfort to the passengers.

All fair points. Horses for courses.

If I's doing much tarmac I'd rather a harder longer wearing tyre and let the shocks take up the slack. I do run good sidewall ratios as well, not low profile ones, so there's cushion there too. As long as they grip and slip/slide predictably, I can drive around em.
...and as for passenger comfort, they're 30 year old tractors. If they want comfort they can phone an uber. (Plus the guys sitting on haybales in the tray have a pretty soft ride only interrupted by shooting, rehydration, and dead animals)

But 3x, that's a number from thin air to make a point. If anyone does find those tyres please comment!

Leave a BFG MT out in the sun for a few years then use it. Guaranteed you will get half a million k’s out of it as will be hard as a rock. Fun in the wet too!

Now there's something I've never heard! I always aim to buy/fit tyres in winter, on the beleif that the cooler temps "set" the rubber, or at least don't chew it out like running hot does...might be folklore but.

As soon as I got there, I berated myself for not bringing the camera. The tide and surf was so violent, it was crashing into the western side then sweeping sideways to the east, along the beach. There was a group of surfers that were swept out, and ended up riding the surf next to the cliffs.
