Roof racks
Guys,
Thinking about taking my big aluminum Rhino roof rack/basket off my 2014 Patrol. Doing it mainly to fit in the garage, but also because I very rarely use it. I will need to make other arrangements about my rear camping lights & LED light bar, but that can be done. As a bonus, has anyone done the same, and was fuel economy increased, and wind noise reduced?

My last rack had a plug to connect the lights and solar when I had the 76. Not that I took it off more than once...They were just cheap connectors but I was looking into setting up a trailer plug arrangement for the roof so removing the roof rack would be as easy as disconnecting the plug and unbolting the rack. Idea was sourced from a build thread on 4WD A ...Safari truck build.

I also got around 1LT/100 when i took mine off and went to Rhino sports bars instead. You can always knock up a mount off the back of the spare wheel carrier for lights.

I got the Ironman tradesmans rack made of steel ... quite heavy and does make the wagon roll a bit more around corners .. you do notice it ... if I had the money at the time I think I would have gone alloy .. but at $1000 plus it wasnt within budget. Saying that though .. I have the light bar mounted under mine so its well protected and its always being used for the fishing rods and it's got the spare wheel mount on it .. worth having
