How do the sockets go bouncing around in the back? They don't fall off the rails?

They do sit on the rails pretty well. When you put the socket on the clip, that tightens the clip to the rail. I can drop mine on a concrete floor and they all stay on. I had a plastic rail once, it was rubbish, go for the steel ones.
