    Yep, total bullshit.
    The tyre has to be rotating to "wake up" the sensor, and the sensor unique ID has to be "registered" on the TPMS which has a max of 4 at anytime... none of which can happen with a 5th sensor on a spare, it is asleep and not registered on the TPMS
