G’day Rob, sounds like a great trip mate!
Has been many years for me but did have some great times on the island making the extra weeks stay effort beyond Indian Head up to our usual camp near Ocean Lake track entry not too far from Waddy Point.
September back then was our preferred time chasing Taylor fishy’s although got a bit busy as you’ve mentioned.
Do remember the wind/weather was so much nicer on that top side though and maybe something to consider as the main stretch can blow a dog off a chain at times camping.
Have fun, stay safe, watch out for freshwater creeks coming out on the beach, slow right down as they can rip blokes axles clean off!
