I think thats what a few use that for Ian, but I believe its was actually intended for was the use of PTO driven devices. Not 100% sure though.

I also use mine if running my compressor whilst stationary, just set the revs to about 1200rpm. Using it as I described when driving is a skill that needs practice, I've only done it a couple of times set at 2000rpm & 'made adjustments'with the clutch.
