    I've got no idea why the loose filter wasn't leaking everywhere but looks like it might have just started to weep a bit of oil .
    After a few issues with stuck filters in my younger days I've only ever done mine up hand tight, just so they bind and don't spin loose or leak. No tighter. Never had a problem and I've never had to use a filter strap since.
