Servicing the cooling system?

Planning a desert trip for later in the year.

Vehicles's 5 years old done 140,000, sits on 88-89 mostly, seen it go up to 92 on a hot day.

Anyway, what do I need to get done to have the cooling system serviced? Is it something I could I do with some new magical potion that's come out in the past 10 years or should I get it done by someone who knows what they're doing?

Can a regular run of the mill mechanic do it or am I better off going to a radiator joint???

If you're talking full rad clean, block back flush et al, then a speccy rad dude is the go bro'.

Although, a speccy rad dude put me onto a simple clean for the system that appears efficacious.

Dishwasher cleaner. I shite thee not! Empty system, refill with clean water and supermarket dw cleaner. Run around as normal for a few days and empty again. Refill with water.

Run around as normal for a bit more and empty again. Refill system with your usual water/coolant mix and off you go. Worked on my dear old gutlux. Moves quite a bit of gunge.

Give it a shot, even if your system doesn't need looking at shouldn't harm it.
