    1st gear grind

Hey guys, when I'm taking off from fully stopped and clutch in there is an awful grind. Having only basic knowledge about cars I originally thought it was just a clutch issue, however after research seems it might be a. It more sinister. What are your thoughts?

Ok so I read my description and it I forgot to say that it doesn't always grind on take off but if I'm in a hurry to get into traffic it usually does. Is this normal?

I bought the car end of last year. The guy who did the RACQ. Said there was water in the clutch oil and brake fluid. Could that do it?

If there is water in the brake and clutch fluid, there might be a chance there is water in the gear box as well...
Might pay to drop the oil mate and have a look.

Uhm, yeah! It would mean the clutch slave cylinder isn't probably pushing the fork far enough in. You will more than likely be up for a new master and slave cylinder too now. As these will more than likely have rust and pitted cylinder bores. You could just try and bleed the system with new fluid, it may work, it may work better than before, but still not right, it may not work.
I'd be getting the brake system bled with new fluid too if I were you.
