    Along the same lines, check your heavy duty wiring to the winch and the connections for corrosion. Often 12v will pass through a corroded terminal but then when loaded and trying to pull large currents it will fail. Happens with starter motors, the owner recons his starter motor wont turn over but he can see 12v at the terminal.
