Clean that charging port. Is it magnetic? The newer units are magnetic. It looks like an older unit.

Yeh magnetic mate and will give it a clean, its was something I use 2 use daily in a warehouse environment but rarely use it now, was thinking off cleaning it up for my daughter 2 use so she stays off mine

The port on your macbook is mini DVI not VGA. Just thought I'd mention it. You need a mini DVI adapter, to whatever ... DVI, Hdmi etc...
