Removable Mud Flaps GQ

what you need..
Bunnings..
30mm and 25mm box tubing.. Come in 1m lengths... Don't be alarmed with size its a snug fit..
20mm flat bar... .................... " ".....
Gal link chain..
eye hooks

Mud flaps are floor covering from Super cheap....

2 x 40mm bolts

1st
Cut 30mm box section to suit x 2.
Cut 25mm box @ 200mm x 2




1st pic, is the straight bar welded on. This will have the mud flap bolted to it.
2nd pic, I have the smaller box tube inside with 10mm left (reason 4 later) Drill a hole through both tube sections the same size as the bolt. put bolt through and slightly tightened. Then weld the nut to the tube. This make for your easy access and to undo.


Capped off end




Next setup up 10mm over hang end to chassi at your required hight and weld a tag.. adjust to your liking.
Then weld the 25mm section to the chassi (2nd)

See in this pic how it will slide over, with the already welded nut to the box tube it will make for easy removable of the mud flap by just undoing the bolt..


See in pic (4) of the bolt which lines straight up and bolts in..

Bolt on mud flap (in my case rubber floor mate)
Chain it up to what suit your needs..



Easy removal by undoing bolt and sliding out. slide to put back on and tighten bolt..

Thnaks mate... Will add to it later when all finished and and chained up with the little extra bits I use to make it quick and easy..
Also peeps, I have done a bottom rear quarter panel chop that mad it a lot easier. If you have not done this there is another way..just let me know and i will explain

Great and simple solution to a annoying problem.

Just be aware welding to a vehicle chassis may not be legal in some states, doing the same mudflaps, but with a "bolt on" version like a large U bolt as they use to mount sliders, would be another way to get the same results without any legal issues, bolt on would also allow you remove the support arm easy, should you happen to bend it off roading ?

I do know that welding to the chassi can be a no no and I should have mentioned welding to the chassi could be not be legal.....but also if you get some serious rock sliders they weld a plat to the chassi as well to bolt on to....
BUt in saying that Im sure there big enough and at the right hight I should not get pulled over for mud flaps being to short... (most states is 300mm from road to bottom of flap) and they wont check them out.....
the way your looking at doing it as well will work and also looked into that way as well...this was easier for me..
