Yeah, I agree. $300 is a massive highway robbery.
The maker of that pod was dreaming.

Nah that is hideous and HUGE. I will find a pic in my build for you mate. I had a stand bent up as a mount so all my wires run under my mount on top of the dash. No holes.

The only good thing about an 80 series is..... the front end?? Wrong!!, the Engine?? Wrong!! the Full Time 4WD system?? Wrong!! Its the NissanPatrol.com.au stubby holder fitted over the transfer lever.

I figured it cant be that hard can it??? its only 2 bloody wires! For the kind of stuff i need to do this rule is true, yes it can get far more difficult but not my thing.

So first up, i wanted to fit up some gauges to the GQ, so i asked around and finally settled on mounting them in the centre of the dash. I had a base bent up and i painted it then set about installing a set of gauges from scratch.

They are... Oil Pressure, Water Temp, Exhaust Temp, Turbo Boost. Here is some pics of how they came up.

This is from my build thread for the GQ in the first couple of pages. I took a couple of wires out the back of the speedo pod and it works great. Easy to read.

    That's pretty cool looking setup.
Basically I need a mat to cover up the wires & hoses going into the gauges.

All my wires are on top of the mat but under my mounting plate. I can't remember why I left the mat there now to be honest. It's a long time ago. I already had the mat though.

I have a triple pod with gauges on top in the centre and have no line of sight problems
The Police dont like gauges like the hoons have outside at the rear of the bonnet.
Hoons with pillar pods are in for trouble too.
I think the law is 11mtrs from the drivers line of sight, my larger scoop is no
prob along with the 3 gauge pod and pillar pod, think Ive measured mine at 8mtrs
04 ST 3lt auto, not enough Mods to keep me happy, but getting there

    Thanx mate.
Ok, cool. The mat's not used to hide the wires and make it look nicer.
Where do the wires lead to from under the mounting plate?
How did you manage to hide the wires without having to drill?
    Thanx

I didn't understand the "11 meters" from line of sight requirement mate.

BTW, the reason I wanted to make sure is that while ago I read posts in a thread where a guy was booked for having these dashboard gauges. But, I am not sure that's the reason he was booked. He was probably booked for something else.

Yeah, this is the same unit I think the guy was selling for $330.
I think if this pod is ok, then gauge pods shouldn't have any problems at all.
    Cheers
