    New gps coordinates for Australia?

    http://www.sciencealert.com/australi...s-to-the-north

Due to tectonic shifts, the entire continent of Australia has moved 1.5 metres north over the past 22 years, putting it out of sync with global positioning systems (GPS).

To fix the problem, the government's announced that the country's latitude and longitude will officially be updated to reflect the continent's new position.

But for Australia, those coordinates were last updated by the national body - the Geocentric Datum of Australia (GDA) - in 1994, and since then, the continent's moved more 1.5 metres.

This is important because GPS works out your location by calculating where you aren't.
Once it has where you aren't sorted out you must be where you are.
If, due to errors where you aren't now becomes where you are then the GPS system is no longer accurate.
Given that the new datum is calculated for 2020 then you won't be where you think you are for another 3 and 1/2 years
Dolphins are so smart that within a few weeks of captivity, they can train people to stand on the very edge of the pool and throw them fish.

But where you've been hasn't really been where you've been so where you thought you were was in fact where you might want to be but haven't been there yet, or have you?

1.5 metres north. that is a lot of acreage moving from the Southern Mid latitude Air Circulation cell to the dry area between it and Southern Hadley Air Circulation Cell.
Boom! there is our climate change solved right there, unless of course the grid lines aren't there yet?
My advice is: not to follow my advice.

I heard this morning that Australia is moving 7cms north and 11cms west per year.

Still doesn't get me any closer to Cape York.

You sure?... what's that creeping up behind you then?
