I used the same stuff I reckon. It is garage door insulation. I got it on chuck out for $20 the roll.

Yes I built a shed couple of years ago and had exactly the same stuff fitted as roof insulation. I scored half a roll and intend to make some the same.

Did you just jam it in or suction cups?

Its jammed under the trim. Just slots in there and stays put.

You may find if you make it tooo neat it wont breathe,,,,
as in the air in between gets hotter and the material will
billow out simple corri board would work with suction cups
Size you need is roughly 450mm x 350mm then start trimming to suit.

No need for suction cups John. Just remove the trim around the window, cut the corri board to the shape of the window and put the trim back on. Mines been on there for about two years and hasn't gone out of shape at all.

I found the air in between got hot and billowed out the silver foil material ,
plus dust collected there as well but each to their own, I say lol
I tried all this over 20yrs ago, now all I have is LIMO tint and it works a treat

That silver foil is not very UV friendly either Ive found

I cant say for the silver foil as I dont use that, I used the black corri board from Office works. It hasn't changed shape at all. IMO the black looks better if your windows are tinted.

Im going to get some perforated vynly for the cargo area side windows
You see it on tradie vans and buses with some advertising on it. I will be applying it to the inside of the windows

We had the "one way" signage on the work van, thought about it for the side windows on the Patrol.

Good for privacy and to keep the temps down too I think.
Plus it will look neat and not just like an after thought

I would think that being black might actually increase the inside temperature? The stuff you see on company vehicles with logos etc is called one-way-vision and is a digital print media that comes in white, has a self adhesive back and is stuck on from the outside. The majority of the time is has an over laminate applied that protects from uv, weather and damage. If it has no laminate and gets rained on then the water sits in the perforations and makes it near impossible to see through.
Another thing to remember is that one-way vision material works like Venetian blinds on a house; walk past in the day and you can't see in, walk past at night (with the house lights on) and you can see in perfectly but they can't see out.
People ask about it for putting on campers etc and i tell them that there'll be no privacy at night with a light on inside...

As I stated earlier Ive used this on my other 4x4 about 15 yrs ago now,
I found it worked well, I fitted it to the inside, Privacy was only for around the burbs.
At camp camped under some shade with the windows cracked about 50mm,
I found the fridge [battery] last longer
