First Service Since Owning Car

I just bought a 1998 4.5 GU that is dual fuel but I only run on LPG.

She has done a bit of work at 430,00kms but I have driven it around town for about 500kms over the last 2 weeks. It has also done a morning out at the tracks and it went fine.

I am thinking of doing a full service on it this weekend.

I plan to do the following:

- Oil and filter (I have have read changing it for 20W-50 every 5Ks is a good idea with an old, high millage engine)
- Spark plugs and leads
- Air filter
- Front Diff, Transfer Case, Gearbox (manual) and LSD oil change.

Any other suggestions would be great!

a TB45 is a good strong work horse - not quick, but reliable - 430K is mid life for average use (if its been babied - young / if its been thrashed - old.......)

get good quality Gas plugs (if you are running it on Gas)
as well as good quality leads
not sure of your setup, but make sure you get the settings right for the Gas - should be somewhere between 12-18*BTDC
might pay to change all your hoses and fan belts (keep the old ones as emergency spares)

before you play with the service, spend some time checking all the wires and connectors for your Gas system
(being injected, not sure exactly what sort of setup you have) but check all wires & connectors, and replace as necessary and make sure all are nice and tight with clean connections

maybe also fit another earth strap or 3 (my old GQ petty/gas, I had earth straps all over the place)
another from battery to another place on the body
another from motor to body
one from gearbox to chassis

some Patrols have problems with earthing (intermittent faults) so extra earth straps are not a bad idea

if you have time, maybe too late now, but diff breathers..............

fuel filter, coolant/thermostat(genuine t/stat only),check brake pads, check/replace brake fluid/clutch fluid

I've been using 20/50 on the last couple of changes now and find that it starts to break down after 8000 K's approx. I know this because it leaks out of the rear main a little, after an oil change it doesn't.

As mentioned above.
Gas plugs. Good ones should last 100,000km
Also go over all your bushes, steering & suspension components.

Then once it's all done maintain it.
