The sprinkler heads are of Toro (backyard) and Hunter (frontyard) with microsprays for garden beds. All with about 7 zones.
The solenoids for each zones are controlled via eight Triacs (7 zones + 1 master valve) connected to a micro-controller (Atmega328P), which is connected to the microserver via FTDI serial-USB converter.
The purpose of this setup is to control the system via web which can be accessed through your smartphone.

Mate you would fit in well over here in Millparkistan. Do you wear you cap backwards, have the doof doof up loud and recline the drivers seat so far your looking out the rear window? So in theory I could use this type of setup for activate sprinklers 2 help defend my house should there be a bush fire while I'm not at home?
What sort of cost would be involved?

Done that before when a bush fire was travel past quickly about 1.5k's away! Didn't want it 2 burn my beer!!!!!!
