A dumb question, but this is located as close to the battery as possible? And does it replace the default box attached to fold out solar panel?

As a point of interest it annoys crap out of me that almost all the 'tards selling panels on Ebay insist on gluing the bloody Regs to the Panels which is absolutely worst place to mount them

Yeah mine is glued on the back and during hot days with great sunshine has failed die to over temp a few times. I never bought it for the regulator and am looking at options for a dedicated regulator. Is that one PWM? (Probably marketed as Mppt though)
