So I decided to remove the back and rear seats out of the car and build a bed. I decided to go with the “qubelok” system from capral aluminium. One of the guys at work recommended it to me. It worked out heaps cheaper than going with the cube version that’s sold at Bunnings. And a lot cheaper than a set of custom draws.
The ally was about $16 per 5m and the connectors are $1 or so each. It ended up costing a few $100 to build the whole system, including plywood across the top and glue for the carpet and some hinges and accessories to make it more streamlines and give me access to more space.
I was able to mount my 40l Engel underneath the bed and have installed a trapdoor so I can still access my fridge and have a bigger flat surface for sleeping.
I bought a long trunks from supercheap to use as draw storage and store my Webber babyQ on the other side.
All and all, im pretty happy with the build especially for a few hundred. But im sure someone with more handman skills could make it look a bit better than me, it took me and my brother about 2 days to complete.
