Ye that's what I was thinking. I'll be having a closer look into a location up front probably Sunday. Love only having one day off a week lol.

In the gq we have a relay cover right next to the main batter with a large open area under it.
So I have mine stripped down and mounted there. I have the remote plug there aswell and the wireless reciver.
    I'll take a shot today
    Cheers

If you open that plastic container, you might find that the solenoid itself is much smaller so it will give you more options..

I have mounted mine inside the back of the bullbar and installed a wireless remote system. If I have to I can get under the front and plug in a cable - but I have had this system for a number of years now and the remote works fine everytime. If you get a solid state relay system then water is not a problem. Just seal the connections when you install it.

On the fire wall is a long way. Agree with Winnie the voltage drop will be high. Note though, if you are committed to using the supplied pre crimped cables at the supplied length then anywhere they reach is the same . Make zero difference.

If your happy to shorten the cables to suit your install and dan re crimp the as close as possible. I would be opening that control box up and see what is inside for sure.

The only good thing about an 80 series is..... the front end?? Wrong!!, the Engine?? Wrong!! the Full Time 4WD system?? Wrong!! Its the NissanPatrol.com.au stubby holder fitted over the transfer lever.

Ye. I really wasn't a fan of up on the fire wall either.
Opened up the box and this is what I have got.
    Attachment 62951

This unit should be water resistant on itself right?? The casing didn't actually have any seals anywhere??
In theory how much risk would it be having it out of the case behind one of the battery's??

I would prefer the safer mounting option,
So it basically comes down to out of case behind battery, or in case beside winch.??
As for wiring I'll do what I have to
I just don't want risk of failure when I actually need it :P
