My Aldi compressor, which is the same as those Mean Mother ones, just has the clip on chuck and it keeps pumping away until I look at the gauge. One could be made to fit inline from the chuck to the valve using a pressure relief valve so it just releases the air from the compressor but you'd need to put a one way valve in aswell so the air doesn't come back out once the pressure is reached. Could be made pretty easily. Is it worth your while though?
Hmm, I think I have most of the parts here to make something. I might have to look into this now...
    Lol
If you want to go "auto" for the vast majority of 12 volt jobbies then you will need an adjustable pressure regulator and switch.
The reg will have to be adjustable so you can set what pressure to inflate the tyre.
The switch will be to turn off the Compressor.
If you don't have that the compressor will just run it's guts out while you are dicking around elsewhere and not needed and either overheat or exceed it's duty cycle.

The reg is easy but the switch set up would be tricky

How do you get around the 'having to turn it off to read the right pressure' aspect?
As in, I've never had a gauge that was accurate when the compressor was still pumping, always have to turn it off first to be even close.

    Thanks Mudski,
I also have an portable compressor and from what you wrote I found this,
    https://ditchingsuburbia.com/blog/on...r-installation
similar to your idea. Is it worth it? Maybe not, but I love to tinker lol.
If you do make one up show us some pics.

If the pressure dropped, the green ring could not be seen. The green ring would appear again when you inflated again.

Not sure if they are still available.
Best to ask a tyre shop
You can get those one that replace the valve cap but chances are they would get knocked off.
Looks like "Green ring valve stem" is to do with Nitrogen, that was just a quick glance.
    Cheers

Plus, means I'm not huddling over for a valve that's at the bottom leading to a sore back.
Mine has a clip on chuck, and I've got a digital pressure gauge that I use and just clip em on off every now and then. I know roughly when I'm close to pressure.
That said, would be great to be able to set 38psi and walk away, and when I hear the relief open up, time for the next wheel.
That's the idea, more time for other things

At OVA50 I have those TPMS its just a valve cap thats green
at 38 psi and should turn red when my pressures drop.
You can buy them for different pressures,
04 ST 3lt auto, not enough Mods to keep me happy, but getting there

The Green Ring was invented by a Sth Aussie guy maybe around 1989 -1990. (I think his name was John Van Leeuwen)
They were to replace the std valve, had nothing to do with nitrogen.

I had some on a vehicle about 15-18 years back, but as mentioned, not sure if they are still available.
    Was a CRD

Thats why you need a pressure reg.
It will decouple the supply pressure (compressor) from the tyre pressure
