I have had a better end to what has been a horrible week.
My son is battling cancer and has been on chemo for the last 3 months, earlier this week he had scans to check the progress and then met with a surgeon to discuss surgery to remove his tumors.
The original cancer was testicular and the surgery to remove it has been scheduled but the surgeon said he could not operate on the other tumors that are in his lungs.
My son and all of us were then devastated thinking it was all over but he met with his Oncologist today and was told that although he still has tumors in his lungs, they had shrunk to half their size and were likely not active. He then went on to say that there were surgeons interstate that can operate to remove them.
He still has a battle ahead of him but we have gone from a feeling of despair to a feeling of hope.

I have not had a drink all week because I wanted to make sure I was available for him if he needed me and booze probably would have distressed me more but tonight I have had a few beers and a few reds and now I am enjoying some bloody nice whiskey and feeling positive about his future.
