Hi Andy, I take it you represented the Grand Order of Podologists successfully in the Simpson? How’d it go with all that weight on the dunes?

I’m confused Andy. I reckon the Trayon is a pod.

Okay!So I am officially a "Podoligist"is that how it's spelt?Mine is a 2003 GU DX done 250k"s with the telstra back,it's bare at the moment but that's going to change, will put some pictures up as soon as I can get my camera to work again. There is some great looking rigs here and some great idea's,the first thing I'm going to do is take the Telstra ladder racks off and I was wondering if you guy's could give me idea's on a rack of sorts up there, looking at alloy for the weight factor and probably to cover the pod at this stage. Is there someone in particular that makes them for these particular units or the EBay ones easy enough to fit?Once I fit one on what sort of ladder rack system do you use?
When I had the rooftop tent fitted I used roof bars bolted directly to the pod, but you do have to pay attention to waterproofing the bolt holes properly. I guess if you are planning to have a roof rack you are probably thinking about sleeping inside the pod? If so I would advise that you try it a few times before committing to that idea. I suspect that most of us podologists have considered doing so but few have stayed with that idea for anything more than occasional overnighters or weekends.
You need to talk to Prez Rossco (DX Grunt) to become ‘official’, but if he mentions any initiation rites walk away quickly. LOL

Oops!Jump the gun on the official side, sorry about that I will fall into line and follow official protocol! You are spot on Cuppa, the thought has crossed my mind about sleeping in there but yes that does have inherent problems,we do own a tent and I am inclined to still use that for longer than the weekend trip but I suppose for now weekend escapes are what we are gearing for and as we live on the doorstep of Fraser Island that is our usual escape weekend. The tent thou is such a pain to setup and a rooftop setup is looking more appealing but I have to entice Mrs Briss into climbing a ladder and I don't know how long she will put up with that,we are looking at finding a fishing spot that day camp that night and then move on again say in a couple of days.If I was to go rooftop I suppose that would change the roof rack design and perhaps I would go with what you have suggested Cuppa!
