    Petrol engines and E.G.R. valve

    I have a 93 model Patrol.
It has a 4.2 liter fuel injected engine.
I have been reading other forums about blocking the E.G.R. valve and they all seem to indicate that it applies to diesel engines only.
    Is this correct?
If not, where can I find the E.G.R valve on my engine? is there any benefit to blocking the E.G.R. valve on a petrol engine?

    Thanks.

    Neil.

Diesel engines produce soot/particulates which mix with the oil to produce a claggy coating in the intake manifold which can block up after a period of time. Petrol engines burn a lot cleaner so the exhaust gases don't cause the same problems as on a diesel. While the EGR on a petrol is only for emissions and doesn't help the engine to run better, it really does not hurt it either. I have asked my mechanic in the past and he didn't think it was anything to worry about.
Not sure if the ECU would notice if EGR was blocked on petrol and what it would do.
