I made a trade with AB and ended up with a pair of stock Nissan front mud flaps. Put them on this arvo and at the moment have just tucked them up into the sliders, but I will chain them back properly.
So now when I go for a drive on a wet bitumen road it won't look like I've been mud bashing for a weekend...
I had ordered a new top gear stick boot a while back. Theres two rubber boots on the GU's, one on top of the other, so I though to remove the console and replace it. Only to find the lower boot nearly non existant and the small boot on the box where the gearstick goes in torn quite badly. So I thought while I'm at it, I'll replace the two bushes and the spring in the top of the box and chuck a noo boot on there. Now I have to wait until the lower boot arrives. My car is only sitting here and collecting dust, I got time. Lol.
Done a little, more, rewiring too. I can't get to the pax side as the troll is parked too close to the garage wall on that side and there's a birds nest on the floor from when I just cut all the wire to the Aux and pulled them back through the firewall. Lol.
Fun times ahead.
Some new rubber boots should cut some noise down also.
Cheers Rod

I want to take the leather boot off the console and see how much a trimmer can make a new one, or repair the tear in mine. Its only a small tear, hardly noticable as where it is. But I know its there...
Not sure on your truck Cuppa, but the two boots on mine are glued and sandwiched together with pop rivets in a metal plate. Got all the rivets out and its stuck together really good. I'll wait until the lower boot arrives before I do anymore. Funny thing was when it was time to put the new small boot on the top of the box, I'm thinking how in the hell? The top hole in the boot is maybe 15mm and the shaft of the stick is maybe 30mm. I tried pulling it over the stick, looked like it was going to tear. So I thought go from the bottom. No go there. Above the ball on the stick is the plastic hold down ring which can't be removed unless you separate the two halfs of the gear stick. So out came the silicone spray, coated the top section of the stick and gave a quick yank and the bloody boot just slid down real quick.
Awesome, no tears and all.
I'm wondering if my hot oil smell was coming from the torn boots or because I have the compressor for the air locker under the pax seat. I can't see it being the air locker though as there is a solenoid in the compressor to shut off the air supply....
