    Bored Mate, lol

@ Kallen read the link as weight tells you what size etc.
Are you mounting it to a bench or free standing on some
4"x4" RHS, They look best mounted on a stump, go see your local red gum guy
he'll have a stump for you and it'll look traditional too

    Well it's apart

Both screw and bolt had never seize on it so that made it easy.
Spring is in good nick so I think I'll wire wheel it and paint it.

Anyway only marking I can find is

So yea not sure mate. Nothing visible on the back jaw.
    Cheers

Ow and its a 5" jaw.
    Unsure about mounting.
Thinking I may make a spacer for the base so I can mount it to the bench.
    Cheers

looking good , pack it with grease when re fitting it, marks are normally at the back of the jaw .
Looks like its a Columbia Vice so minimum 150 yrs old. Be wary of the handle to it will give a blood blister
you would not believe poss, personal experience there, lol Mine opens to about 8", bloody heavy though
Where you found the marks is called the box, also that washer type thing is a wear washer, normally a bit thicker but plenty left
for another 100 yrs eh, looking forward to seeing it re-coed, they are an awesome vice, put a 6" Dawn to shame lol

5" jaws maks it weigh aroud 60-65 lb sound right ??

FYI I paid $20 for my 6" vice on Ebay from SA and a mate
who was GM of toymoto over there freighted it over for zip on a pallet

its awesome imo that a vice/tool made from 1836 to 1900 that hasn't changed design since the 1600's
still works today exactely as if it was made yesterday,

@ Kallen wire wheel and clear coat, paint spring black,
and a smear of never seize on that wear washer

    The Knife Thread

The bolt I think has seen better days.
Where are these replacement parts you speak of??

And I'm thinking I'll wire wheel and then give it a good coat of machine oil. Or fish oil.
Or I might clear it lol.
    So many choices.
    Cheers

Plenty of springs on Ebay , Mine was missing a large square nut
,so I made one from some 3/4 flat to keep it rustic.
If you have an Anvil fashion a new spring from an old car one,
    just re-temper it
Famous German engineer used the same shape for his auto clamps
large one is 200mm the smaller are 100mm
You even see the same shape on a tool on one of those infomercials
