550 is high mate. As boots has asked, what's your boost reading. I got 387c on the Hume and up the big hill just out of Seymour sitting on 110 clicks towing the camper. You should be getting lower than that imo.

im running the stock exhaust and my max boost is set to 14 PSI. the new mechanic changed the dawes needle valve over when he did the rebuild as he believed the current one to be faulty. one thing you have all got me thinking about, maybe my reading is coming through in farenheit? as the mcnally gauges do both and maybe one of the mechanics changed it over without me knowing???

i cant work out how to change between f and c, but on option 3 the gauge reads C and then changed back to read mode. im fairly certain its reading at celcius also, as when i got in the car it showed 10.8 on the dial and the house thermometer was showing 11 degrees C.
ill have to take it to the mechanic this arvo and show him

Mate drive by your gauge then and back off when temps climb. You could tweek with boost a little and get it higher but you may go to limp mode as things are. Unfortunately you need to spend more of your hard earned on a larger exhaust to get temps down to a more satisfactory range IMO.
The price of excellence is dicipline , the cost of mediocrity is dissapointment .
