Mechanics are so quick to jump these days to the worst case conclusion.

yes they are a reasonably common failure and would be the first thing to check if its not knocking, as said mate jump over to the intro section and say hello and tell us a bit about it.

Gu's have a problem with the oil light coming on normally I just turn the motor off for a while and restart it
did it a lot around 100k not many probs now at 220k

look at the fridge , now the mower,, back to the fridge,, now the mower again, fridge, mower,, fridge,, mower,, AAAHHH,,bugger it mow the lawn then have a well earned beer lol
