Ironman Bullbar on a GQ

Ok so the small rectangular hole in the front of the bar, I guess is there to try and thread a strap through then to hook onto the tow point....... Hmmmmmmmm not the best thought out bar design for sure IMO, it even hangs way to low on the chassis rail

Yes, I'd be considering drilling a couple of holes in line with the chassis for big-ass m24 eyes and use a bridle to attach the strap.
Depending on how thick the steel the bar is manufactured from of course.....

Yes, i had thought of using m24 eyes, i would need to use some thick steel plate washers to spread the load, the bar is not made from the thickest steel.
my other thought was to get some 10/12MM plate, cut a slot in the font of the bar and have them protruding out.

That rectangular hole is actually a high lift jack point.

As for recovery points, from memory, rated recovery points can be fitted under the chassis as there is provisions there.

It's never recommended to snatch off a bullbar as their mounts aren't designed to have those sort of forces put through them (only snatch off chassis mounted rated recovery points).

Thanks for the info regarding the rectangular hole. I have not and would never use a bull bar to perform a recovery.
Recovery points on a GQ are found on the insides of the chassis rail. On the drivers side is where the factory hook is mounted (attached by 3 bolts) and this is usually replaced by an aftermarket recovery point. A recovery point can also be placed on the passenger side rail as shown in the photo I posted previously. Irrespective of which is used whether it be hook or plate, it looks like the splash guard could cause some damage to a strap....... But that's my opinion only.

Thanks for the reply's, with the Ironman bull bar there is no way to have the after market recovery points accessible from under the bull bar.
I have added a rated recovery point to the chassis and having to use the high lift jack point to feed the strap through. with the ironman recovery straps you have thick protective sleeves on the strap at the exact location of the high lift jack holes.
Feeding the winch hook though this hole to attach to the recovery point is also fun.

wow.. if thats the best idea they could come up with thats pretty poor..
but it seems ironman above deemed the hole not to be used for that, but no resolution to the situation lol
