To rebuild front hubs myself or get mechannic to do it?

Hey Guys new to the forum just wanted to get your opinions

My front Hub is leaking again from the inner seal which I have changed (2 or 3 times over as many years) so I was thinking of rebuilding the hubs. I just wanted to know if its worth doing it myself or getting a mechanic to do it? ive been quoted around $800-$900.

Also If I am to do it myself is there any specialist tools that are needed or would make the job easier? I'm thinking of getting the kit from ebay so if anyone can recommend anything that would be great.

    Thanks in advanced

Do it yourself and save yourself $700. The kit is about $200 and includes all new bearings and seals. Don't need any specialist tools except for maybe a seal puller and a brass punch. Some seal kits come with the bearing socket so check this if you go down this path. Also make sure you get the kits with the Japanese bearings. Lots of rags as well helps.
IMO and should be taken with a grain of salt.

The only good thing about an 80 series is..... the front end?? Wrong!!, the Engine?? Wrong!! the Full Time 4WD system?? Wrong!! Its the NissanPatrol.com.au stubby holder fitted over the transfer lever.

If it's still leaking after fixing a couple of times maybe the diff is bent a little. Just throwing it out there sometimes it can be hard to tell just by looking at it, should get years out of a rebuild under normal use if everything is all good.

    thanks for the link stropp

Mudrunner awesome rebuild thread. just skimmed through it but I don't see myself having an issue now. Phone might get a bit greasy tho

Rossco I've thought about that and was actually looking for a housing to replace mine with but might take one more gamble with mine.
