I think you would only be able to use this in very limited situations.
I could see this doing damage too, if a vehicle was stuck in mud and this was used there would be a huge amount of strain on the diff and axles trying to pull out of the suction of the mud as this would not allow for slip so a vehicle with weak diffs like Hilux/Prado or a Defender with their dodgy CV's you could end up not driving anyware.

There have been a few variations of using the drive wheel as a way of recovering yourself over the years.
Can see that other version working well in desert country using your spare instead of a sand bag, emergency only
Loved that big wide Hoe the guy used I take a smaller one better than a shovel sometimes
04 ST 3lt auto, not enough Mods to keep me happy, but getting there
It looked like it involved a lot of work, but they succeeded. It must be a demo clip as I reckon there was enough of them to push the car out anyway. I have an old snatch strap that will suffice, if I ever get silly enough to go bush by myself and get stuck.
My advice is: not to follow my advice.
Once out how do you untie your wheels??
Looks like a pain to untie especially if you have limited room
Cheers

Get bogged again and spin the wheel the other way.

Dolphins are so smart that within a few weeks of captivity, they can train people to stand on the very edge of the pool and throw them fish.
once clear of the bog untie that small rope on the rim and pull side ways
wouldnt be rocket science I think.
But a good one to put in the memory bank

I think it would be too tightly wound on and no way your going to pull it sideways IMO

That won't work, you won't get the inside rope or the webbing from out under the tyre.
The instructions show the vehicle be "driven away" and unrolling the device on the track.
I reckon it has to be a PIA which is why they didn't show it on the demo Vid (but I am a cynic).
I guess bottom line is that the device works as such and will get you out of the bog.
I think I'll stick with my Maxtrax tho
