Is this a boost relief valve?

Can anyone fill me in on this valve?
It's located on the elbow going into my intake manifold (2000 GU TD42T)
Looks like it is relief valve of some sort but I seem to get a bit of oil come out, is not a huge issue as I clean it regularly but i wonder if there is any way to get around it?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Yes it's a pressure relief.

You can remove it and blank it off. But I would recommend fitting a boost gauge.

Cheers nissannewby, if I were to replace it with a line to a boost gauge am I going to create any problems for the car?
Is this safety that should be kept?

    No problems.

With the boost gauge you will be able to see what it's doing anyway. That valve is not really required.

    No worries, thanks mate!
Another toy to add to the ever growing list.
Do you happen to know if there is a gauge pod that will fit on the patrol a pillar or somewhere along the dash nicely?

4wd concepts do pillar pods which are usually a good option and fit.
