BOSS "Tough Enough" is an Aussie company that engineers and manufactures heavy duty solutions for the 4wd industry.

Our latest creation is an innovative Chassis Brace that eliminates the fatigue and cracking of GU Y61 and GQ Y60 model Nissan Patrol rear chassis sections.

The factory chassis' suffer from fatigue due to flexing of the original coil towers, this leads to cracking and ultimately complete failure with the chassis breaking right through. Needless to say that rough roads and 4WDing scenarios and the resultant shock loading exacerbate the problem.

Often it is difficult to see the problem developing, so the best protection is prevention using the new BOSS Patrol Coil Tower Brace.

Are your Patrol rear coil towers distorted or cracked? Are you fitting a set of heavy duty springs, or performing a GVM upgrade on your vehicle? Do you plan to use your vehicle on corrugated roads or on 4WD tracks? If so, you need the BOSS Patrol Coil Tower Brace Kit in your rig!

The entire kit is designed as a DIY fitment with comprehensive instructions and a fitment time of about 30 minutes. The main components are cadmium plated for corrosion protection and the engineering has even been certified by a chartered professional engineer who states:

" The brace will double the capacity (strength) of the rear coil tower assembly and significantly improve resistance to fatigue through cyclic loading (combined bending and shear loads) "

With the kit in-effect doubling the strength of the Patrol Chassis in this point, the small investment is well worth the spend as insurance against a catastrophic failure down the beaten track.

    Features:

Engineered & Certified to DOUBLE the strength of the OEM Coil Tower
Easy DIY BOLT-IN (no welding required) Fitment
    Recessed bolts for flush fitment
    Coil insulators supplied in kit
    Supplied with comprehensive Fitting Instructions
    Cadmium Plated for Corrosion Resistance
Proudly AUSTRALIAN MADE by FNB 4WD Supplies
Backed by the BOSS Lifetime Structural Warranty

The only good thing about an 80 series is..... the front end?? Wrong!!, the Engine?? Wrong!! the Full Time 4WD system?? Wrong!! Its the NissanPatrol.com.au stubby holder fitted over the transfer lever.

Looks good. Seems to be a neater fit than the superior items. Only drama I would have is that it follows the standard design, only thicker and more rigid. Superiors items add an extra brace point.

    Time will tell I suppose

I am looking a strengthening the rear coil towers on my ute and came across these as well.

Did some reasearch on these an came across a spirited discussion on the merits or otherwise on another patrol forum.

Whilst I am certainly no engineer they appear to be the goods. I think they would be the go for me the ones from Superior might foul my exhaust and I didn't want to mod the exhaust as it gives out such a sweet note he he . It's so good I am prepared to sacrifice the dollars. Must be crazy.

However I will pop over to Superior to find out before I decide.

I've installed these and it was a nice easy job. They are a good solid bit of kit and to get them engineer certified, I'm guessing their claims on strength are legitimate enough.

Between Patrols ATM. Had a beaut GU with 6.5 Chev TD. Next is a GU ute with a 4.5 litre Cummins conversion and a camper on the back.

They look good but for a higher price(78$)than the superior set offering less reinforcement I think I'd go superior. But they would be nice and light compared

They were actually LESS than Superior when I bought mine, and really that was the deciding factor. Later, they raised their prices to be the same as Superior. Maybe some pricing games starting?

Yea I'm thinking so, they are crazy if they try to make it more then superiors though the boss unit include postage I didn't factor in postage for superiors as its local to me but I doubt it would be 78$
