good find, yeh I have 3500 2 spend, but only want a cheap run about less I spend on the run about the more I have for fixing up the GQ. Don't mind a few scratches on a cheap run about but have seen heaps of cars with very bad sun-fade and not interested in buying something like that

Geez!!! 19 months since this thread was posted in... And it was about commodores!!! Haha....
Well I guess it's safe to say the mortgage has taken priority over any mods. Poor girl has been driven into the ground.... Hell, it's even been out of rego for the last two months.
Rego'd now and keen to get back into it for summer.

First issue: last time I drove it (about two months ago) it had developed a scraping sound from the rear drivers side (by the sound of it). The sound had gone from intermittent to continuous in a few drives. George reckons it may simply be the wear indicator on the brakes, which hopefully it is BUT last night I had a short drive and no noise....
Will get new pads early next week and have a look around that area while it's apart....

Mine made a similar noise to that and got worse and worse. It was some seal inside the axle, I could not work it out so just took it to the mechanic

    G`day Lucas
I think your on the right track with the pads mate. it will come and go as the pads move with brake applications and some times when cornering as the discs move slightly sideways with corner loads.
By the way Merry Christmas to you and your family,we may be over your way for new year or just after, plans are made on the run with us at the moment, would be good to catch up again.
    Beers and Cheers Pearcey

Yes! I'd describe it as a high pitch squeal, dependent on speed.

Ok the noise was a seized slider on the rear drivers side brake caliper. But on closer inspection we found that the shaft was flogged out so im up for a replacement caliper (easier than trying to re-sleeve the existing one.
Good news is that the wheel bearings feel healthy so thats a plus.

Oh, i also had a massive achievement by finally replacing the the rear wiper blade! Geez im good at mekaniking.

Will be heading out bush after new years for a couple of nights. My boss is bringing his sr5 lux thats never been offroad and im gonna get it muddy.....
