If you just want to compress files or folders into a single "ZIP" file, then Windows 7 and Windows 8 has native support for this function. You don't need to install WinZip or WinRAR. All you have to do is right click on the file or folder you wish to compress and choose "Send to>Compressed (zipped) Folder" from the menu.

Just go to oldapps.com and get the older version of your favorite program...I still use a version back from 2005 or there abouts. Albeit a cracked full version. I find a lot of new software is bloated with adds, and programs that will want to instal without your knowing, or consent.
Like uTorrent. They are up to 3.4.2. I'm still on 1.82 from 10 years ago.
