Any details on the engine Jono?

K's, is the car being wrecked or crashed, I assume no turbo, silver or black top, injector pump size? Do you have to pull it out yourself?

As for the compliance it's pretty easy as they are both factory fitted motors, all you have to do is notify vic roads of the change of engine number, don't think it even needs to be inspected.

Gee for someone who almost never on you are pushy....lol !!

Silver top with 300 on it... reco factory pump and no turbo.

The motor is coming down from Sydney and will be here on the 30th.

Comes with gearbox, loom all bolt ons except power steering pump and comes with gearbox mounts plus some other goodies...

Price paid for this is $2200

Funny I have spent the day outside cleaning and gardening so have managed to not think about this nearly all day.

I am in limbo until it arrives as I am under strict orders from Matty to not spend a cent until it is all checked out.

Good to hear man, glad to see it is working out for ya. The other bonus is you will be more experienced for when I need to do mine.

    Ha Ha LOL.

Sounds good, mine had exactly 300 on it when I got it, so far it hasn't missed a beat. Not having a turbo should mean it hasn't been too stressed (until now that is)!

Whats up with your gearbox, no good? Price sounds good!!

My box drops out of 3rd on its own and is leaking like a MF from the front seal... this way I sort out the leak and also the gearing plus have the right bell housing.

I think as your car is really a Mav there are some differences to the build plus mine being an efi...

Being a mav makes no difference... I think the job will be a bit more involved converting from the injected motor.

You would be surprised at some of the differences in a mav...

Yes I know efi there is a little more involved and will start looking into what is required ... got my little black book to keep notes for everything including money spent and little bits of information I pick up along the way.

There are a few other things like battery tray and radiator I also have to source. .
    Fuel filter canister thingy?

Yeah there are a few Mav differences, it's usually just things that they miss out on like the swaybar disconnect.

The EFI will be a bit more involved but I'm sure it wont be too hard to nut out along the way.

At least you can run a full sized second battery now Don't forget the shroud for the radiator as well and definitely fuel filter thingy!!

This is a handy publication i have tried to follow when i've modified my cars, http://www.epa.vic.gov.au/~/media/Pu...s/1031%201.pdf but here is the explanation your looking for Drew

    3. Engines
Vehicle engines are designed by the manufacturer of the vehicle to meet stringent exhaust and evaporative emission standards set out in the ADRs. Changing the engine of a vehicle must not result in more pollution being emitted than would be emitted by the original engine when properly maintained.
The following engine replacement options are available.

    (a) Replacement of an original engine with a new, reconditioned or used engine of the same general specification is permitted. This engine must be designed to meet the original engine's emission standards. All emission control devices and systems must be fitted. For example, you can install a new, reconditioned or secondhand Commodore VN 6-cylinder engine into your VN Commodore.

    (b) Replacement of an original engine by an engine that was offered as an option for that vehicle make and model at the time of manufacture of the vehicle is permitted. The replacement engine must be of the same specification and in its original configuration including all emissions-related devices or systems. For example, Ford provided several engine options for the XE Falcon, so the 3.3 litre 6-cylinder engine can be replaced by a larger V8 from the same model range.

    (c) Replacement of an original spark ignition engine by a diesel engine is permitted.

    (d) Replacement of an original engine with an engine that was designed to meet more stringent requirements is permitted provided that the replacement engine is in its original configuration including all emissions-related devices or systems. For example you can replace the engine of your 1987 VL Holden Commodore with an engine made in 1997 for a VS Commodore.

    (e) Replacement of an original engine by any other engine is permitted provided that:
    i. if the original engine was originally fitted with emission control devices or systems, then the replacement engine must be of similar or later age and must be designed to meet the same or more stringent emission standards (plus the emission control devices or systems applicable to that replacement engine must be fitted and operate in the correct manner)
    (f)
Replacement of an original engine by any other engine may be acceptable if it can be shown by way of test or appropriate engineering reasoning that the emissions are equal to or less than could be expected from the original vehicle.
    and
ii. The mass of the vehicle must be no more than 114 kg greater than the mass of the vehicle from which the replacement engine originated.
An acceptable example would be the fitting of a V6 engine from a VS Commodore passenger car into a 1996 Toyota Hilux originally fitted with 4-cylinder engine. An unacceptable example would be the fitting of a VS Commodore V6 engine into a larger, heavier vehicle such as a 1996 Toyota Landcruiser.
