    Buying a 89 model ford Mav ???

Looked on gumtree and found a 89 model Mav with 268000 Kms on it in my area , it's on LPG and petrol
Just wondering if this is worth it for 3500
Also it's got a leak in the exhaust manifold
I've been told the mavs are almost identical to the GQ patrols is this true??
    Cheers guys

Pretty mmuch the same mate, body and engines are the same. Although level of fruit and seat trim maybe different. Price wise, seems about right to me. Sometimes you pay more sometimes less.

Also a good idea to pop over to the intros section, strategic up a new thread and introduce yourself mate. Something we like all members to do

I just did the same at a similar price. Just make sure you check over things like the swivel hubs and obvious signs of rust. I know mine had a nasty backfire issue that only turned out to be spark plugs but just make sure you are thorough looking over it as your cheap car can blow out to cost more than you hope for. Good luck tho

I owned a duel fuel mav 90 model and it gave me nothing but hassels on gas and the fuel consumption was extremely bad. I paid $13,500 (10 year ago) and no Bull**it i spent around 10k in 18months fixing
Problems with it (4.5k for new tranny) mainly due to the gas system on it, i cant remember the exact details but yeah i will never touch a duel fuel again lol

But i hope you get a good version.

Im not a fan of dual fuel having owned one for years, but where are you going get so much fun for $3500
by the way tell him he's dreaming. A 4x4 that old will come with lots of little problems I'd imagine, so factor in that as well.
Put extractors and a 2.5" system there goes $700 plus
04 ST 3lt auto, not enough Mods to keep me happy, but getting there

It's bloody depressing how cheap the petrol ones are if you are after a diesel, if it's a big petrol watch out for the head, they are renowned for cracking. All the best...

Get a td42 and you won't look back plus you will spend more time off road in the bush than on a hoist
