I bought the Ridge Ryder 12000 lbs with rope when it was on 35% sale. Paid $585 for it. I've never used it and it's way out of guarantee now.
I'll probably use it this week with a snatch block to pull the top half of a scribbly gum down.

I pulled mine apart before I mounted it to check how well it was greased and found it pretty good. I put it back together with some good RTV silcone..

I also discarded all the original cabling (I think it was 2 gauge) and made my own from 0 gauge. I mounted the solenoid in the engine bay and the controller plug under the dash + a spare rocker switch control in case the controller broke.

This is the difference in cable size now:

I might do a separate thread on it next week..

there are another mob in Heidelberg that do it as well,
I think MR gets higher HP motors for his Warn winches,?

@jff45 how much Dyneema have you spooled on that winch?

That's how it came out of the box so it hadn't been stretched and respooled yet. Can't remember what the advertised length was..

I won a 9000lb premier winch second hand off ebay for $230 bucks including delivery from the eastern states, it was missing the solenoid box an controller. I then bought a tigerz11 solenoid box with cable control and remote for $100 delivered. Hooked it up and works a treat ( let's face it, all the Chinese gear is probably pumped out of the same factory..)
So far it's got me out of a decent stuck position at the Powerlines, pulled a pig hunter out of diff deep mud at Dwellingup ( scored a bottle of Beam and a beer at the pub for that. ) and a guy stuck out at waroona dam for a six pack of caronas.
I didn't ask for payment but daly accepted it so I figure I'm into it for about $280 now and it's still going strong. Touches wood*

Just found this on BCF, haven't got a clue as to what they're like, no doubt the same as many of the other cheaper brands out there. Currently on special until 29/6/14
