I rode an old DRZ250 on the weekend, do you really need a 400? 250s go plenty good enough for what you want

An xr 400 is ideal mate they are fast but are a rock solid bike. . They aren't quick but the extra capacity makes them more tractor like we the little quarter litre bikes tend to need to be kept going.

I used to ride a CR125 which was off its head, powerband was just scary...lol The DRZ250 would do the job nicely I reckon.
I'm not in a rush but need something with heaps of torque down low , reliable, easy to work on and cheap of course...LOL

That's exactly right. The xrs are like tractors, idling away all day long with great torque for hills, muck, sand etc. Or if you keep them pinned flat they will keep up with the newer big bore four strokes. Mine has been ported and this gives them a lot more top end but it will still chug like a tractor down low. A mate rides a cr500 and they are called a widow maker for a reason lol but he loves jumping on my Xr and wheel standing all day long (the Bastard!)

An xr400 mate. You'll be ringing the 250s neck in no time once you get used to it

I have an old ty 250 trials bike I bought at a garage sale for $100.

    Ill take you all on....lol

This thing is awesome, I used to drink beer and try and do some hops over fallen trees on the property. Safe to say I have had my fair share of trials fail...lol
