    With your setup Andy and what your wanting 2.5" will be more than enough. 2.5" will be easier to fit to with room constraints in the engine bay of a GQ especially if both batteries are still in the engine bay. 3" is better yes and a few people will run 2.5" on the hot side and 3" on the cold side it has to do with air speeds and volume etc. When you put air into a big chamber (intercooler) it slows down then you squeeze it back into a pipe it speeds up. So the idea of 3" on the cold side is to give you a nice volume of cold compressed air.

    But as I said first 2.5" will be heaps for your setup and you will soon discover even 2.5 is quite tight.
