Auto shifting into 4x4 tips

,I think the problem I had was that I was pushing lever down to much as in saying that I push it down to select low or high but no sure switching between the low and high do you still need to push it down or just shift like normal .

The pushing "down" movement is simply a safety lockout feature, designed so you do not move the lever too far into the Low range selection accidentally while the vehicle is in motion.

Pushing down should not be required between 2H and 4H (just pull back), only push down to bypass the safety lock to get into Low range 4x4, at this time the vehicle needs to be stationary , and transmission in neutral.
